A Different Kind Of Date Night

Friday, March 9, 2018

There is absolutely nothing more important in your marriage or relationship than to DATE your spouse or significant other. That's right... I said DATE. As you grow the foundations to your life together you start to settle in and get comfy. We all knows what happens after you settle....

Instead of letting the monotonous routine of life hit you.. make sure to switch things up occasionally. Plan special date nights out with your love. You don't have to go all out and spend a bunch of money to have a good time.

Some of my favorite memories with Nick have been made right at home.

Since I am definitely a homebody I thought I'd share a few ways that you can romanticize your special partner without even having to leave the house.

First and foremost.. I am a firm believer and Netflix and Chill. There is a right way and wrong way to do this activity...if you get my drift. I get so excited each month when they release new movies to Netflix. We also subscribe to Hulu and Amazon Video so between all of our choices we never have an issue finding something to watch. I wanted to share a few of our favorite picks that we've recently watched.

Leap! was such a terrific movie. I laughed more than I should have for it to be considered a "Children's" movie. The whole plot is truly inspiring and it really makes you think about the way we show value towards other human beings. I would definitely recommend this is you're a huge kid at heart or have small children.

The Emoji Movie. I know this is another children's movie but I can't help it. I laughed so hard that I cried a couple of times. This movie is truly the perfect movie if you're looking to laugh and cry. I think the reason I love this so movie is due to the awesome story that is told. Meh is the main character who goes on an adventure to be reprogrammed so he can finally only feel the "correct" emotion.... Meh. I love this movie so much because it's a true testament of how most kids feel these days. I highly recommend this for all you parents that have little young adults at home.

If you recognize this cover than you're truly showing your age. Little Shop of Horrors came out in 1986. If you grew up watching it then you will understand and appreciate the cooky, dramatic story line. Not only is the film a little cooky, it's also a musical! I truly believe that this is what they mean when they say the 80s were "trippin". This movie is on Amazon Prime Video.

Chips is the typical "goofy cop" movie. When a rookie gets paired up with an undercover cop things get a little crazy. Dax Shepard and Michael Pena clash heads while trying to come together to take down the bad guys. While they're doing their undercover work posing as California Highway Patrol they soon find out that they're working with dirty cops! This movie is included with the Cinemax subscription on Amazon Video.

I wanted to share just one more from Amazon Video. While this one is not free, it is very well worth the money. As we can tell.. I love animated movies. I think they're so pure and sometimes just the appropriate amount of humor that I need in my life. Coco is truly inspiring for so many reasons. Despite his family being very much against music, Miguel stills fights his way to become a great musician. Just like his idol Ernesto de la Cruz. His journey is so heartbreaking as he gets to experience what life was like way before he came along.

If you've not seen This Is Us yet... you're really missing some quality tv. This show is sure to make you cry at least once but the wholesome feeling it gives you is overwhelming. We get to see the past and present come together and tell the story of two people who fell in love. Jack Pearson will forever be my hero. He overcame a major battle to show his wife and family that he was capable of being not only an amazing husband but even better Dad. I'm obsessed with this show and look forward to my little cry fest every week.

I may have watched this twice already but One Tree Hill will never get old. There are really no words to fully break this tv show down. So many things happen to each character as they grow into responsible, creative adults. This tv show is iconic and you have to watch it at least once. Since Netflix deleted the tv show from their watch list.. I was lucky enough to have a Hulu membership so I could continue watching.

50 First Dates is the perfect "cuddle up with your honey" movie. You can find it on Hulu under the popular movies if you have a membership. Adam Sandler starts every day over with Drew Barrymore  in hopes to make her fall in love with him all over again. I think it's the sweetest story because even though she has no idea who he is every day when she wakes up, he continues to fight for her love and gain her trust.

O . M. G!! Kidnap is the PERFECT thriller. I literally sat on the edge of my seat the entire movie. Kidnap was very relatable to Halle's movie The Call. She fights tirelessly to get her son back who was kidnapped at the local fair. She races down highways and back roads trying to get her son out of the back seat of this couple's car. Go watch Kidnap on Hulu to see what happens!

I know this post is pretty lengthy but I love hearing people's opinions and recommendations. I love watching movies more than anything because it's like reading a book. You can literally transport to another life while reading or watching a show. I'd love to hear some of the things that ya'll are watching across these streaming services. Please drop me a comment with some recommendations.
