Spicing Things Up

I am doing something a little different than I have EVER done before. I've never been the one to kiss and tell but hey.. we're all adults here, right??

Intimacy is a very important part of any marriage or relationship. Intimacy can come in many forms... not just in the bedroom. I thought it'd be nice to open up about this topic because it's such a hush, hush thing that most people feel uncomfortable talking about. However, I feel like being open about such a beautiful part of life should not feel so taboo to discuss openly.

First things first... intimacy comes in many ways and forms. As I said earlier, it doesn't always refer to things happening behind closed doors. Intimacy takes on many roles in your everyday life that you probably don't even recognize. For example, sending a spicy text during the day can really show your partner that you're thinking of them. I wanted to share a few of the ways that Nick and I express intimacy in our marriage so that maybe you can take these ideas and apply them or tweak them to fit your life.

Random Messages

I am the queen of random text messages. I think it's nice to send your spouse little reminders during the day that you care. Sometimes I like to spice things up a notch by maybe sending a little risky photo... oh geez I am blushing... or maybe a little risky text about your plans for later. Showing that you care enough to go out of your way to send a text during your day can show your spouse how much you value your time with them.

Setting The Mood

We allllll know what I mean by this but just in case you were wondering.... turning on your spouses favorite Pandora station or maybe lighting a few candles can really turn up the heat in your relationship. Husband's, this next part is for you.... Drawing a bath and adding some flowers or candles is probably what every girl dreams to come home to. Little touches really go a long way. I pay attention to detail more than anything. I certainly appreciate when Nick goes out of his way to do little things that I love.

Dressing The Part

I am going to share a few links below to different date night dresses I've been eyeing + a few lingerie pieces. Dressing up and having a nice date night can really make you feel special. Personally, I enjoy seeing my Hubby all snazzy. For those of us who enjoy going that extra mile behind closed doors... lingerie can be such a nice touch to make you feel sexy. I know that for me, after working all day.. cooking.. picking up around the house & just doing other mundane life tasks.. I don't always feel like putting that much effort into myself. Trust me when I say this though... take a shower, shave your legs & throw some nice lingerie on.

Every relationship and marriage is different and like they say...different strokes for different folks. I enjoy finding new ways to do things in my life though because doing the same thing over and over again can really become boring. When you've been married for several years it is NECESSARY to spice things up occasionally.

Here are a few things I've found recently on a couple different websites that I am currently living for. I've also added a few Plus Size pieces to this because everyone should feel beautiful in their skin!

Comfort On Friday

Friday, April 20, 2018

Happy FriYAY everyone! I've been a little absent on here and I'm so sorry for that. I feel like the past couple of weeks has just been a huge blur. April is not my favorite month because allergies are stirring around and then there's always so much going on. Spring usually brings lots of changes and I've been struggling to keep up.

I'm taking this beautiful day to kind of recharge and get my life (somewhat) together. Nick has already mowed the yard and I've already popped about 5 different pills to eliminate allergies and this terrible sinus headache I am carrying around. I am planning to make a nursery run today for some new plant babies so keep up with me on Instagram.

While I am talking about social media... I find myself very absent on Snapchat unless someone personally sends me a snap. I really wish that Snapchat was more like Instagram stories but oh well. I am constantly oversharing on Insta Stories so make sure to follow me on there.

I wanted to share my laid back, comfy outfit today because everyone needs this top in their life. I am all about comfort clothing and especially when it's on sale or I can snag it for a good deal. I've found myself drawn to Old Navy a lot here lately. I found a few really cute Spring items on sale a couple weeks ago and then found this athletic top last week. I do have a link for you guys but online this top is still full price. I found mine in the clearance section for $10.00. So essentially I saved 50% by finding this in the store. I loved it so much that I bought 2 colors. It's very lightweight and is perfect for those Spring days where the sun is HOT but the wind is a little chilly.

This top is truly perfect for running errands or cleaning around the house.

Friday's are for comfy clothes and no makeup. I am truly living my best life... minus the allergies.

I absolutely LOVE this top. I am wearing the black one today but I also bought this "night cruise" color also. It's truly the comfiest, lightweight long sleeve top.

I am kind of obsessed with this tank. I love the colors that are offered. Pictured above is the "Sea Something". I also really like the "Winter Plum" version too.

Husband Questionnaire + Having Fun w/Your Spouse

So today's post is definitely a little different. I thought it would be fun to switch it up and show off a different side of marriage. The playful side.

I sat down to think about some random questions that I could ask Nick so we could, in the long run, learn some fun new facts about each other. I asked him a few different questions and jotted down his exact answers. Read below!

What Superpower do you wish you had?
"I guess....flight. I wish I could fly."

What are three things on your bucket list?
"Go to Germany. Own a stupid fast car. Own my own business."

What's your favorite memory with me?
"Laying in the dark the other night..listening to Fleetwood Mac and just talking to you."

What is your dream vacation?
"Traveling across the U.S. visiting amusement parks."

If you could have any job, what would it be?
"Social work. Helping troubled children."

If you could move anywhere, where would it be?

I think it's very important to communicate with your spouse constantly. You can't grow in your relationship if you don't know the yearnings for your lover's heart. Take the time to sit down and think about some things you would like to find out about your spouse. I think this exercise is good to do at least once a month.

Also, I just want to say.. having fun with your spouse can really improve your bond.  Working 9-5 jobs can sometimes take a toll on marriages and relationships. I know, personally, working in a whole can cause marital strain. Instead of the normal everyday motions, try hitting the town for a sexy date night or head to the bowling alley for pizza and beer. Getting out of the work clothes and into something a little more comfy can really allow you and your spouse to loosen up and have some fun!

Nick and I try to get out on our off days and explore our city a little. We love trying all the different little restaurants and finding new spaces to explore. I would love to hear some ways that you and your spouse loosen after for date nights.

Date Night Ideas for Homebodies

Anyone that personally knows me can tell you that I am very much an introvert. I truly hate having to leave the house and socialize. I will come up with any excuse or diversion to get out of social outings. When it comes to date nights, I try to plan at least one a month so Nick and I can spend quality time together. Sometimes though, I would much rather cuddle up and stay inside.

I wanted to share a few of my personal favorite date night ideas for all the other homebodies out there. There is nothing wrong with saving money and staying in to spend time with your significant other.

Create a 4-course meal together. This can get really fun if you pick a theme and roll with it. I want to plan a French themed meal one night for me and Nick.

Going hand in hand with the French meal..

Create your own at-home wine tasting. There are some companies that will sell mini bottles of wine so you can taste test before purchasing. I love trying new things and who doesn't love a glass of wine to unwind?!

Plan a night of playing old video games or any game in general that you both enjoy. Nick and I grew up playing Mario Kart and Donkey King so I want to bust out the Nintendo 64.

Lay out on a blanket under the stars... or better yet an air mattress! Spring time is ALMOST here and I am so excited to get some fresh air in the evenings. Growing up, one of my favorite things to do was hang out outside at night. Gazing at the stars is such a peaceful feeling.

Blaze up a fire pit and roast some marshmallows. Another good way of getting outdoors this Spring is getting cozy by a fire. Roasting marshmallows and star gazing sounds like absolute bliss to me.

Grab some cheap movies from Walmart and have a movie night. I love watching old movies and it's always interesting when Nick hasn't seen an 80's or 90's movie. I'ms such a movie buff that I have seen just about everything. Walmart has some $5 movie bins and they are the best place to pick up those old gems.

There are so many creative ways that you can have an awesome date night inside with your honey. I will always look for a way to stay inside rather than going out. I wanted to add one little note before I sign off here.... Even if you decide to stay in, these are still dates. Looking nice for your man on date night should be a great feeling. Unless your indoor plans require "special pajamas" then take this time to fix yourself up a little. Of course, this is preference so you definitely don't have to abide by those "rules" lol.

Share what your favorite date night indoors is. New ideas can never hurt!

Spring Playlist

Tuesday, April 3, 2018

I love music and love sharing new songs when I come across them. I thought it would be a great time to share my Spring Playlist that I've had on repeat here lately. I also love hearing about the songs that you guys have found so please share!

Also, if you guys have an iPhone and don't have Apple Music then you're really missing out. I am able to download all the new songs for $9.99 a month. Before Apple Music became a thing I was spending SO MUCH money on music.
